Thank you for your interest in volunteering at LibraryFest! 

Teen volunteers (Rising 7th - 12 Graders) support the program event by helping staff, assisting guests, and contributing to a positive, safe, and welcoming environment. Volunteers are expected to act responsibly, communicate clearly, and represent the program with maturity.

Location: Central Library, 1015 N. Quincy St.

  • Click the pink "Sign Up" button above and complete the form to express interest.
  • Use the drop-down down field and complete the Teen Volunteer application.
  • Incomplete applications will not be visible to staff. Refer to "How to Apply" instructions for guidance.

Possible Assignments

  • Event Crew — Setting up tables, decorating, distributing materials, and assisting during events.
  • Program Assistant — Greeting patrons and answering basic questions. Supporting instructors or staff during classes, camps, or workshops. Helping younger kids with activities

Expectations & Conduct

  • Dress CodeWear comfortable clothing suitable for the tasks assigned; closed-toed shoes preferred.
  • Professional Behavior — Be respectful, responsible, and mature in all interactions.
  • Attendance & Punctuality — Arrive on time, notify staff of absences, and commit to scheduled shifts.
  • Communication — Ask questions when unsure, follow instructions, and report concerns immediately.
  • Safety Awareness — Follow all safety rules, use equipment properly, and help maintain a safe environment

Core Duties

  • General Assistance — Help staff with organizing materials, setting up spaces.
  • Customer Support — Greet visitors, answer basic questions, and direct people to the right place.
  • Event Support — Assist with setup, cleanup, registration tables, handing out materials, or guiding participants.
  • Activity Supervision — Help monitor group activities, support younger participants, and ensure safety rules are followed.
  • Organization & Clean-Up — Keep shared spaces tidy, restock supplies, and help maintain an orderly environment.
