Responsibilities:
- Lead a monthly book club for adults
- Develop a title and theme for the club based on your own reading, community interest, and with input from library staff
- Select book club titles with input from library staff
- Work with library staff to procure materials
- Engage the group in discussion
Types of volunteers:
- Adult aged 21+
- Older Adults (55+)
Time commitment:
- One book club meeting a month, for approximately 1 hour, plus time of reading material for book club selection.
- Schedule to be determined by volunteer's availability and library calendar.
- Year-round
- Minimum 1-year commitment
Qualifications:
- Avid reader
- Comfortable leading small group discussions
- Ability to create welcoming and inclusive atmosphere
- Comfortable working with people from other cultures, age groups and backgrounds
- Dependable
- Good listening skills
- Ability to manage participation so that everyone has chance to contribute
