- Library staff will check reference and initiate criminal background check for selected applicant(s).
Responsibilities:
- Lead a monthly book club for adults
- Engage the group in discussion by active listening and ensure all attendees have an opportunity to contribute, if they wish
- Select book club titles (fiction or non-fiction) with input from library staff and book club members
- Work with library staff to procure materials
Types of volunteers:
- Adult aged 21+
- Older Adults (55+)
Time commitment
· 4th Thursday of each month from 6:15 – 7:45 pm (Note: November & December book club meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month)
· One evening per month, plus time for reading material for book club selection
· Year-round
· Minimum 6-month commitment
Qualifications:
- Avid reader
- Friendly and welcoming demeanor
- Comfortable leading small group discussions
- Ability to create welcoming and inclusive atmosphere
- Comfortable working with people from other cultures, age groups and backgrounds.
- Dependable
- Good listening skills
- Ability to facilitate and manage the discussion ensuring all attendees have an opportunity to contribute, if they wish
