Responsibilities:
- Encourage patrons in career transitions
- Review and edit resumes
- Help patrons create resumes
- Be (or become) aware of locally-available support organizations and resources
- Help patrons complete and/or submit job applications
Types of volunteers:
- Adults
- Adults aged 55+
Time commitment:
- 2 hours
- 1 - 2 times per month on Wednesday mornings; other days and times may also be considered based on volunteer availability.
Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience providing employment advice
- Current awareness of online job search platforms and resume expectations
- Must be willing to gain awareness of current resume writing techniques
- Must be willing to gain awareness of locally available resources, including those at the Library
- Must not have a conflict of interest in helping job seekers
- Speak English fluently enough to communicate with someone about computer problems and edit documents.
