Volunteer: Arabic Language Conversation Leader (Central Library)

Responsibilities:

Introduce topics of conversation and lead the conversation as needed 

Help students with grammar and vocabulary 

Ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate in the discussion 

Students will be at different levels of proficiency 

Create a welcoming, encouraging, engaging environment conducive to learning 


Types of volunteers:  

Adults (21+)  


Time Commitment:   

Class Sundays at 1:30 - 2:30 pm 

Volunteer would cover approximately one or two classes per month 

Minimum 6-month time commitment  


Qualifications:   

Fluent in standard Arabic and able to speak clearly and correctly (native Arabic speaker preferred)

Ability to speak English proficiently and clearly 

Enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and proficiency levels

Fluent in Chinese Mandarin and able to speak clearly and correctly (native speaker with neutral accent preferred) Friendly and welcoming Ability to speak English proficiently and clearly  Enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and proficiency levels  A desire to help students improve their Spanish  Ability to work both independently and as part of a team  No prior teaching experience necessary
