Responsibilities:

Directly assist patrons using public computers, printer, copier, and scannerStaff the Computer Help Desk, answering basic and more advanced questions in person Assist patrons at the public computers with word processing, internet searches, job searches and applications, and with other related questions 


Types of volunteers:

Adult aged 21+Older Adults (55+) 


Time commitment:

Computer Help Desk is open 7 days per week (Mon-Thu 10-8 & Fri-Sun 10-5)Morning, afternoon and evening shifts are available Minimum of one 2-hour shift per week (8 hrs/month), regularly scheduled The library asks for a 6-month minimum commitment 


Qualifications:

Possess extensive knowledge of MS Office, internet, email programs, scanning and printing from computers Good customer service skills, including being proactive and patient while providing assistance or trouble-shooting minor problemsSpeak and understand English clearly enough to communicate with patrons about their computer problems Comfortable working with people from other cultures Dependable and attentiveGood organizational skills Attention to detail Preferred: Prior experience providing technical support
