Volunteer: Spanish Conversation Volunteer at Columbia Pike Library (Monday nights)

·       Library staff will check reference and initiate criminal background check for selected applicant(s). 

·       Make note of the staff point of contact and let them know if you have any questions. 

Responsibilities:

·       Introduce topics of conversation and lead the conversation in Spanish

·       Help students with Spanish grammar and vocabulary

·       Ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate in the discussion

·       Students will be at different levels of proficiency

·       Create a welcoming and encouraging environment conducive to learning 

Types of volunteers: 

·       Adults (21+) 

Time Commitment: 

·       Commitment time is Mondays 6:15 -7:45 pm (excluding Monday library holidays) 

·       Class would begin at 6:30pm

·       Volunteer would cover approximately two classes or more per month

·       Minimum 6-month time commitment 

Qualifications: 

·       Fluent in Spanish and able to speak clearly and correctly (native speaker with neutral accent preferred)

·       Friendly and welcoming

·       Ability to speak English proficiently and clearly.

·       Ability to interact with volunteer software, checking in and claiming shifts.

·       Enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and proficiency levels 

·       A desire to help students improve their Spanish 

·       Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

·       No prior teaching experience necessary
