Responsibilities: 

·       Lead a monthly book club for adults.

·       Engage the group in discussion by active listening and ensure all attendees have an opportunity to contribute.

·       Volunteer is responsible for picking up and returning books to Central Library.

·       Volunteer is responsible for working with participants to select the books for each month and sending those titles to the library book club coordinator to place them on hold.

·       The volunteer location is at a senior center off-site, so personal transportation is required.

 

Types of volunteers: 

·       Adult aged 21+ 

·       Older Adults (55+) 

Time commitment: 

·       Every 3rd Thursday of the month, 1:30-3 pm.

·       One afternoon per month, plus time for reading material for book club selection

·       Year-round 

·       Minimum 6-month commitment   

Qualifications: 

·       Avid reader Friendly and welcoming demeanor

·       Comfortable leading small group discussions

·       Ability to create welcoming and inclusive atmosphere

·       Comfortable working with people from other cultures, age groups and backgrounds

·       Dependable 

·       Good listening skills 

·       Ability to facilitate and manage a discussion ensuring all attendees have an opportunity to contribute, if they wish.
